The staff was excellent with booking and check in. Our arrival was later than we anticipated and they were very accomodating with the late arrival. We were not able to stay longer because of our trip schedule, but would have liked to spend a longer time in this area. It was very relaxing and quiet. I would highly recommend this lodging.

convenient for the beach and good for people with a dog

pretty ropey in a lot of ways: -it smelled pretty bad, of mildew -the air conditioning was so loud you couldn't hear the TV when it was on -the kitchenette was old and crumbly and looked horrible (didn't trust cooking anything beyond boiling water for tea)

Your maid was the best thing about the hotel. She was a trip.

I would never stay there again if my life depended on it. The pool was disgusting, as well as the room and the towels and water smelled horrible. The shower was disgusting.

The perfect location: close to the beach and to restaurants. The staff were friendly and helpful. The beds were very comfortable

Lack of hot water for showers - but it was not a big deal.

We stayed there for bike week, we had another place in Rehobeth booked, but we decided to change places for a place with a kitchen to save some money, I am so glad we did... this motel maybe older, but it has character...The staff (Mary, Gale, Susan, Carolyn) were so friendly and helpful, they took the time to talk to you and get to know you..Loved the dogs and cats too... The place was very clean.. We had the best room, with our own balcony on the front.. We are coming back in the summer with our grandson,,with our dog too... I can't wait..

Close to beach, restaurants, and activities. Inexpensive.

Would not return, you get what you pay for as place was a dump. Outdated, smelly, dirty beds and bathroom, and air conditioners were so loud. Old bathroom with a toilet and shower that barely works and water smells like rust. Would not return, but recommend for those that don't care about this stuff.

I loved the friendliness of the staff and their dedication to their guests staying at the motel. Any request we had, small or big, was met with sincerity and care. Be aware the previous reviews will say "dated from the 40s" and "dogs running all over" but those reviews are just exaggerations. For the price I paid I would definitely say again!

          Nothing......The place is a dump

          Everything....filthey dirty...very outdated

The room was absolutely gross. The blanket for the bed was thread- barren. The shower was disgusting (we showered over at the Fenwick State Park Beach House). I should have known what I was getting into when I saw I could stay a week at the Sands during peak season for the same as staying one night at another motel. The moment I walked in to the room I knew I made a mistake. We didn't even stay the full time. Left on Thursday. We will never come back again. You get what you pay for!

It was close to the beach. The staff were friendly.

It was run down. I do no think that it had been updated since the 50'S. The room was small and the bathroom was even smaller

had plenty of ice in ice machine.pool was clean .

needs updating, bathrooms need major help.old air conditioning units need to be removed.door and locks need to be inproved.rooms and ceilings need remodeling.

The hotel was one block away from the beach and there were a variety of restaurants within walking or biking distance from the hotel.

The room was small and outdated with wood paneling, shag carpet, and a tiny bathroom. If all you are looking for is a place near the beach to sleep and take a shower then it is perfect for that.

Nothing except it's centralized location. This is by far the worst Motel my husband & I have ever stayed at in our 35 years together, even when we were teenagers on a tight budget & took just about anything. At the Sands we had: filthy rooms, carpets so soiled we wouldn't even take our shoes off (even in the shower), threadbare / hard towels & little maid service - we had to get our own towels, empty trash, etc., We had brown "rusty water" ,we presume, leaking from ceiling pooling onto shower floor, ring in toilet bowl that was never cleaned,no useable electrical outlets, every piece of metal in entire room was rusty, pool was not clean, rotted bottoms of wooden entrance door & all of the very old paneling & woodwork throughout room, holes in wall. Flipping the light switch turned off all tv functions, etc. Although we didn't see any bugs we really feared they might exist in such a place & we put nothing on the floor, kept all bags etc. constantly zipped shut. If they would not have taken the full price up front at check in, without our seeing the room, we would have never stayed. For the price we had to pay for such poor quality in an entire building that was in such disrepair & knowing we would lose those hundreds of dollars ,we decided to stay & put up with it. I would never recommend this facility even to someone on a tight budget- you can find something better for the same price. It truly irked me to have to be forced to pay the amount that we did for this motel or else lose it all if we checked out. Wish we would have checked others' reviews or aaa before booking it! A hard lesson learned!!!!!!!

Literally about 100 yards from the beach, which is awesome, and also close to walking paths and shopping.

It's at the far end of Fenwick Island, so you have to drive about a mile to hit the border and Ocean City md. I personally didn't mind but if you don't want to use your car much, or you want to be closer to the action, this is not the place.
